Ipod cannot be formatted or put into disk mode?

    how can i fix my ipod it says need formatting wont show up in itunes and i cant even put it in disk mode or recovery mode any ideas ?

    Sounds like the hard drive might have died. How old is it?

    well it must be over 5 years at least its weird how that happened though everything just deleted and must be formatted to show on itunes you think its finished or any other things i could try?

    I reckon a new hard drive is the only fix.
