Argos do great starter sets, some assembly required.

Get a starter set on adverts, far cheaper second hand.

Its hard to play well but easy to enjoy it if that makes sense.

If your young then it a lot easier to learn simply because of flexibility.
There is no better game and the Handicap system is a great way of equalling out all standards.
It's about the only physical game that you can take all the way to the Grave.
played Slade valley a couple year ago when an 84 yr old got a hole in one.

Go for it you won't regret it.

Easy. After about 35 years I'm starting to figure a few things out. Make sure to get a few lessons to start.

If you're a Corkman I've the makings of a set you can have as a starter set. Anywhere north of Cashel will cost (joking).

Have never heard of anyone give up golf permanently other than through injury. As someone else said, go for it.

The Confederation of Golf in Ireland (CGI) was set up last year by the major Irish golfing bodies (GUI, ILGU and PGA) to develop and promote the game of golf in Ireland,

Here's a link to their Beginners section for Men: http://www.cgigolf.org/get-into-golf/golfers/men/beginners-guide/

They are also on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Confederation-of-Golf-in-Ireland/1453763158170919?fref=photo

    Hope this helps!
