Have decided I have to part with /break up with my 15 year old reliable maxima... 2 litre V 6 barely run in with 100k but lack of space forces sale but what options are there ..I do not want her to be sent to the k** yard via (oldcarsboughtforcashand crisp.com), I feel she deserves better. I would like to know she gets a good send off she was loyal and reliable and served me well but was killed by the evil car tax man. What options are there? I do not want messers ringing with silly offers or adverts with swops for a bag of crisps and a old iphone... nor DD with is chancers and twasters...where can you find a nice owner who would be nice to her in old age ? How have you found your last resting place for your trusty steed and do you feel you treated them well in retirement?

    Has it full service history
    current NCT
    current tax

Well love and maintained with good pictures will sell.

But Harry Potter write up of a car without nct bald tires and dubious maintance just doesn't cut it anymore. Its not good enough the enigne starts and it moves down the road.

The simple answer is you don't know.
There is no site that doesn't have it's fair share of timewasters.

Just put the car up on a few sites and ignore the wasters and sell it for a good price. I like adverts as a lot of info can be shared beforehand and I just don't respond to the low bidders that try it on.

There is a Nissan specialist who seems to love these old Maximas in Meath.

This is one car he is selling. It might be worth a call but I wouldn't expect big money.

Alternatively you can post some info about it here, I'm currently looking for something old, but not too old that's a bit different, to polish in my shed and look after. If yours is in some way interesting or different it might be of interest to me.

In few months law in Poland is going to change, and from then on RHD car will be allowed for registration (so far they weren't).
Considering that average 10-15 year old car in Poland is about 2 times more expensive than here, and in case of bigger engine cars difference might be even bigger, there might be a good bit of demand for that kind of vehicles from Ireland.

Is there VRT in Poland and what's motor tax on big engines like?

No VRT (AFAIR something has to be paid anyway, but not sure how much). Motortax is included in fuel price.

Unfortunately there is plenty to pay when registering a vehicle.

    1. Excise duty - 3.1 of value of the vehicle for vehicles below 2000cc engine size or 18.6% of vehicle value for cars over 2000cc engine size.

    2. VAT certificate from revenue (40 euro) - this is the most ridiculous thing. As imported vehicle from EU purchased secondhand is not due VAT, you need to present cert stating the above to registration authority. Revenue issues those certs for only 40 quid.

    3. Recycling fee - 120 euro - this is just a fee for purposes of further vehicle recycling when it's scrapped.

    4. Documents translation - 20 - 50 euro (f.e. foreign VRC must be translated by sworn translator)

    5. Registration fee - 60 euro - (cost of issuing VRC and number plates)

    And possibly few more.
