I just booked my appointment for my learners permit and I couldn't get one until Friday of next week (the 15th). (www).ndls.ie/en/Online-Services/ndls-centre-availability.html I saw this after I booked my appointment and was wondering what the '3' under walk in means for today. Does that mean that theres room for three walk ins tomorrow?

There are up to 60 walkin appointments every day in large centre centres in Dublin and Cork. Just be there at 8.30am before opening time and you will be seen.

Yeah turn up early - if if you;re going later I'd give them a call first to be sure. Booking online seems pointless to me

It's not pointless. If you book online, you can be in and out in 20 minutes. The process doesn't take up your whole day. If you show up early in the morning to get a walk in appt, they won't see you there and then. They will give you a time slot later in the day and you come back then. It may be later on that morning or it may be later in the afternoon. There is no way of knowing in advance when it will be. So you need to be available any time that day really, if you want to get it done that day. That's not much much use to you, if you have to be at work or pick the kids up from school or whatever.

I want to book an appointment online for next week, however it won't let me do it without a driver number, which i don't yet. There's nothing on my Theory test cert with driver number. Any ideas as to where i get it or any alternative to input? Thanks.

It depends in how much of a rush you're to start driving. When I passed my test the next available appointment to book online was around 3 weeks away - so I just turned up at the NDLS Center the day after I passed my test at 08:45am and was out by 09:30am with my receipt which I was told I was ok to drive with.

Of course there is advantages and disadvantages to both cases - but if you plan on turning up at a NDLS centre I would highly recommend that you're there before the doors open.

@dardyl - there is an option to book using your PPSN - perhaps try that?
