Can anyone tell me if it is legal to release greylag geese?

Released birds might be damaging to true wild bird?

A few hundred pure bred wild ones winter around the country - mainly from Iceland. Loads of feral flocks breeding on the Shannon and most larger lakes now. Season start of September to middle of October.
