Hi just wondering if anyone has done acca home study? Im thinking of starting to do the exams. I think I will be exempt from all except the professional exams. So are they doable with just home study?

Hiya I have done all mine at home, just did a revision course for f6. Just waiting on my results for my last three this friday. Its definitely doable As long as you put the time and effort into them. I have two young kids so I used to study almost every evening for an hour or two when they went to bed and i also got a week per subject off each time from work.

Once you figure out what works best for you study wise you should be fine. For me I found what worked was to keep repeating all the past papers until it stuck with me. I found once I done each past paper three times it started to sink in then. Best of luck if you do go ahead with it! My first papers I took where June 2012 and the years have flown by so hopefully you wont find the time going by!

I bought alot of second hand books from here and they were all bpp texts and also used the revision books too plus any past exam papers printed from acca site.

You can watch free lectures in opentuition.com
I have passed F2-P3 all at first try using OpenTuition lectures+notes and BPP revision kit, so can very warmly recommend.

Sorry to ask, but did you have previous experience or any other training done before doing this? Congrats on passing first try by the way:D

Ive years of experience working (but over 7 years since I worked), and Im wondering where to start to get back into it as I love the work, but don't like the study on the boring stuff like Law & Ethics…..

Ill visit the link above, sounds good. Thank you.

Hmm. My mom has an accounting company. So I kind of had some previous "exposure", thou I never really worked for her.

I started studying ACCA at the same time when starting my first job in accounting as AP assistant. So I would not say I had much experience or training when starting.

I have two kids and I have always worked full time when studying. I would not be able to attend any classes, I wouldn't have time for that. I live in Spain now, so there are no coursess available, but even in Ire I was studying from home in the mornings before going to work. It suits me well and saves huge money.

I think it depends a lot from person. I have always been very independent studier. I get bored in classroom and it gets difficult to concentrate then. At home with OT, I can drink coffee and knit at the same time when watching lectures. Then when I start doing Revision Kit, I can always go back to corresponding lecture and listen the thing again if getting stuck.

Sounds good to me, the drinking coffee at home and for me its crochet!!! Lol

Thanks for replying, Im going to go ahead with either the eLearning or correspondence course, but just need to decide which course is right - depends on what I want after 2/4 years study :-)

Best of luck and thanks again. :-)
