I don't understand this except that people have a list of things they must do to have the complete wedding, along with the diamond engagement ring, the three day event, the FB campaign, etc etc. so you're driving along and you see arrows pointing to an exit from a roundabout and so on. Wtf? Sat navs in cars, sat navs on phones, google maps, most people aren't complete idiots. Is this just a useless extra that couples think is part of the deal, a lame attempt to have "the best wedding ever"?

and yet there will always be some whiner at the wedding who complained the directions were not clear enough

It's all right for smart people to sneer. But stupid people from far away have to get there as well.

Change the signs to point somewhere else.

    That'll learn them.

or penises, penises are always good.

Would love to sneak in a sign along the way that says "Wedding-end of the road"

OP signs like that indicate that the wedding is an open event to the public. Feel free to pop along and get some food and drink.

The stupid people should have a traveling tool to guide them.

It's all part of modern narcissism

The wänkers never take them down either, would love to see the relevant councils / LDA's enforcing the laws and fining the gimps for littering, easy enough to track down.

In certain cases signposts like that can be useful. I know of some people in a nearby rural area who used signposts displaying the area's name when having a big event for distant relatives, (the area had no other signs for any poor drivers who ventured there  ).

In this case, the signs do seem a bit excessive. 'The complete wedding' seems like an uncomfortable and overly-expensive event in most cases imo.

Give me a nice quiet and private wedding any day:D

It's indicative of a certain self-obsessed mindset - "My big day is the most important thing happening in the entire world right now."

Would you really be surprised? Really?

Yeah, I haven't seen the signposted weddings yet, but it's OTT alright. It's as harmless as the rest of the nonsense pomp and circumstance though really, though I guess the idea is that when you're only going to do something once, do it in style.

Signposted weddings fall well short of style though, just seems rather tacky.

A small temporary sign saying "St. Patricks > " or whatever, is not a big deal

like the WAKE signs as well ?

big deal if someone puts up a small sign to help their guests find the way easily.

    Get a life.

Yep, some old c*nt who was invited to shut up some other old c*nt from complaining will get lost and you probably wind up having to waste half your day apologising to them.

Haven't been to a wedding since I was 13 now and glad of it. I'm sure it depends on the families/communities involved but they always seem like stressful miserable ****s of things. Having a wedding wedding would pretty much be a dealbreaker if the possibility of marriage ever came up with me.

Don't see what the big deal is if the signs are taken down after. I know that around where I live some of the hotels are a bit off the beaten track and might be hard to find for non-locals, don't think it's looking for attention tbh.

Need a sign in here to direct people to the "Most bitter / nothing better to worry about corner of Boards (at the moment)".

Some places are hard to find, especially if the church is in a rural area where there are lots of byroads to go through to get there.

I can think of at least 3 churches that would be hard to find if people didn't know the area.

And therein lies the problem, they rarely are, they have become the teenies version of the eighties 'shïte in a bag in a bush' a tradition so beloved of our nomads..

Such signs usually seen in rural areas. Unfortunately lets the thieving bastardos know to check out the area which houses are handy for a visit.Very bad idea imo...

I saw a sign for a wedding during the week. This was in deepest, darkest Leitrim so it was probably useful for people unfamiliar with the back arse of nowhere.

Then I saw the same sign a few days later and that pissed me off.

That wedding isn't until September. Sensible forward planning.
