Fishing in Wicklow? (maybe hike too)

    Hey guys.

Total novice here. I've fished maybe 2-3 times ever. Picked up a rod and fancy going for an afternoon fishing next weekend with a mate. It's more about the getting out and the craic than catching anything.

Somewhere quiet would be ideal so I was thinking Wicklow as I'm living in Dublin. Wouldn't mind a bit of a hike too which I know Wicklow has a lot of.

Would you have any suggestions as to where would be good?

What kind of fishing, what species, have you licences or permits if needed?
Sorry for all the questions, just trying to tie it down a piece.

Probably float fishing? (I've only fished on rivers before so whatever that is, pardon my ignorance on fishing!)

Not a clue on permits or licences. I'm open to advice on this from you guys.
