    HI all,
got dipped at a Spanish flea market and my driving license was in my wallet. Just ordering how I go about getting a replacement. The website is a bit confusing to be honest as to do an online booking for an appointment you need your license number, which I don't have. Im a bot paranoid to be driving without a license… where can I report it stolen and be allowed to drive without it?
    cheers

You report it stolen to the local police and no you can't drive without it. Here's the procedure for replacing it

back home now. Didn't report it with the local police as I didn't realize it was in the wallet until we were enroute home.

Report it to the gardai, and apply for replacement.
In the mean time (few weeks up to few months) you can't legally drive.

Jesus, does it really take that long for a machine to print out a licence and someone drop it in the post?

youre dealing with irish civil servants, what do you think? somebody needs to do a certificate in pushing those buttons to get a license.... but then their health and safety cert was not in order to press that button. so then they had to go back and resit their H&S exam, midway thru that, they realised they could go on a ten year full pay leave of absence, so they fu8ked off to oz leaving your license in the capable hands of somebody else, however this capable person just failed their H&S exam cos they didnt wear their white helmet during the sitting of their hs exam, leaving it to mary to do the job properly.

However Mary just got stuffed up the duff so she is going on maternity leave for about a decade (cos you know one is never enough) so she passes it on to patrick, but he;s only working there for the past 5 years and hasnt got a clue bless him, but hes a trojan worker all the same. he once made 5 coffees in one morning and he only went to the toilet 10 times after that. and in that time frame he sent a get stuffed well card to mary, a sorry you failed your exam card to the gobsh1te that failed the multiple answer HS exam, and IM'ed with the idiot in oz that was originally dealing with your request. (all this in one day)
Well after all this hard going didnt he have a fit, so he will be on a leave of absence for a couple decades while he recuperates.
Anyway biddy is taking over the reins now, so you might get your license in the next century or so.... depending if an phost go on strike or not. as biddy will tell you, its out of her hands.

Licences aren't issued by civil servants any more. It's gone to a private company and they made an even bigger mess than the civil servants who used to issue them.
