To be honest im using a lightforce 210 and it would put the HID to shame.. The problem is the warm up time and the focus on the HID bulb but at 35W you are using less power than your typical halogen bulb(75W - 100W).. ill get photos to you tomorrow.

We used a Lightforce 170HID last year. its a very white coloured light compared to the normal more yellow colour off the 170.

probably pick up eyes over 500 yards and could make out things well belong the range we needed to.

We used a green filter and it was still as strong as a normal 170 without a filter so it was handy for lamp shy foxes.

They've a hefty price tag with them though.

A lightforce 170 hid will kill a lightroce 240 striker all day..

An "adapted" lamp isn't going to be of much use..

As the lad said the Hid Lamp is unreal I have the Lightforce HID 240 and it gives a great beam of light. I had problems with my lead which I believe is a common problem with all Lightforce lamps but got a new one fitted and tested and its sorted now so hopefully no more problems.

Ihave been using a Lightforce 170 Hid roof mounted light for past 4 years. I bought it direct from Lightforce in Aus. Its a fantastic piece of kit and makes a normal halogen light look like a candle in comparision. Foxes are crystal clear even with a filter fitted.

I had the HID Lightforce 170 with a Deben Lithium Ion battery, bought from Simon in Sportsden over 12 months ago cost €500.Simon threw in a lightforce satchel as part of the deal.If doing a lot of foxing it is the only way to go,word of caution it is not suitable for a lone shooter. You need a good lamp man with you as it can be awkward & dazzle the bejaysus out of you if your barrel is chrome(speaking from experience).Having said that bought a HID Hand held lamp from dealextreme a couple of weeks ago.Excellent for a solo shooter good to 200-250 yards also a Lithium Ion battery.Do not really know the battery life as of yet worked away nearly continuous for over 1 hour 30 minutes the other night. Not bad for 102 Dollars delivered.
