Question about Left Hip Movement

So was playing a round there and not particularly well either. Driving 250 yards, slicing quiet a few and inconsistent with irons and short game. Made a change on the back 9 with how I was using my hips and started driving straight and nearer to 290/300 yards, and was hitting woods and irons great as well.

So the change was, I would normally start the downswing with a lateral rotation of hips toward target, slight bump to left and then around. The change I made was, when I get to the top of backswing, my first move on the downswing is to fire the left hip directly back away from the ball/target line, there was no conscious lateral move, just directly back. I think this was causing my to make a better turn and bringing my club back on plane better and more from inside. But I was shocked at the difference it made to my consistency with every club, distance, straightness of shot and short game. I think I've read Ben Hogan had this as a trigger for the downswing but can't be sure. Would this be a swing thought from many people here?

Are you sure it's not a turn rather than a straight move away from the ball?
This is what I'm working on and it works just a you describe!

I suppose it is a turn but my swing thought it to just bring the left hip straight back from the target line. So when I bring the left hip straight back, the right hip fires over to takes its place. I think it's the lateral move I might be eliminating with this, whatever it is I was hitting the ball like I've never hit it yesterday.

I guess if only the left hip goes back then that is effectively a turn...

Im pretty sure I was sliding/ moving laterally for ages, requires great timing to play like that and the bad ones are awful.
    Hope it lasts for you.

The best move is on that gets the club down on plane and allows you to keep all your power stored until you fire the torso/shoulders/arms .

Some people spin it and should really try bump the rotate everything.

The other thing some doing the aggressive hip turn is death because the leave their arms way behind and then have to flip at the ball.

I think golf teaching had really overdone the hip movement for amateurs and some will never play good golf trying to go like Rory.

Also some people lunge upper body, the move that keeps the upper body back and keeps the pivot in sync is the right one, and it's the hardest part if the game to get down in any consistency.

It definitely won't, sure this is golf :D If I could have a euro for every time I've been convinced I've finally worked this damn game out!
