Never used one of these and was considering getting one. Do they do the job all of the time? or are they a bit troublesome?

Also, are there some NTSC games that might not work with it?

Thanks for any info anyone can give me.

They're fairly rubbish. All they do is bypass the cic check. However this only works on very early games. Later games check the frequency of the console so a pal console at 50hz will not work with a lot of games. Games like super mario RPG just plain won't work and super fx games will be glitchy and unplayable.

You are better off getting your console modded with a language and frequency switch and getting a RGB cable. It will play any game then and you also get the benefit of playing your European games at the correct 60hz speed instead of the god awful PAL 50hz of most games. The RGB cable will also significantly improve picture quality over the standard ****ty av composite cables.
