Running a speed test on my iPad mini I barely break 1.5 mb. My iPhone is hitting 10mb on the same speed test app (ookla) within second of the iPad test finishing. It's very frustrating. Is there settings etc I can change? Thanks in advance for any tips.

What wifi router are you using?

We are on a UPC horizon set up so tv box and modem are one and the same.

How old is the iPhone and iPad mini, are they both running the latest software?

Also, is your UPC box the Samsung/Intel version?

Both running the latest iOS. Samsung box. I switched the wifi channel on the box and it's back up to 40 meg on my phone.

That's what I was going to suggest, given the limited options on those boxes - they're single channel N, which is pretty crap for 2014.

If you have a laptop (Mac or PC), you can use that to see what other wireless networks there are in the area which could cause interference. Ideally, you want to pick a wireless channel that's not used.
