Ram lamb or hogget?

Need a maternal type ram for replacements.. Will only need to cover 30/35 ewes.. Would a ram lamb manage or should i play safe and go for hogget, thinking a ram lamb be bit cheaper or for the same money can get a better quality one..

I'm looking for the same, I'm going to buy a ram lamb,as think at society sales maybe hogget rams are those that didn't sell last year. Unless you want a llyen, they don't get paperwork unless they turn hoggets.

Not always true on the hoggets, I lambed April last year so weren't big enough last year to sell. I would think many hoggets would be like that, might think that would be the issue with January born ones though!

On the mail think for that number lamb should be more than capable.

i bought a suflock ram lamb last year and let him out with 30 ewes and i had no dry ewes and they lambed close enough together.
I found the rams lambs were better quality
