How often do you check your fundamentals when practicing?

I've been working on this a little recently and wondered if its just me who kinda forgets about basic fundamentals like grip, stance, ball position etc.

Since its probably more important than the swing itself and certainly allows you to complete a correct swing its something that we should all be constantly checking and correcting.

    So...do you?

I was going to start a thread called "What is your dominant habit? " but, for me anyway, this should cover all the answers I was expecting.
My grip is affected by the length of my backswing, if its not a full backswing then I start the downswing with my hands and lose the lag. It sneaks up on me quite often and leaves me having to check my fundamentals to fix it.
I should spend half an hour a week checking them to help me keep those nasty palm holes and s**nks at bay.

I've so many things going through my head when i'm about to hit the driver its nuts, weight on heels, grip, stand up straight-ish are just a few to mention. I don't do any of this with my irons!!

Practice - I'd check over nearly every shot so that it's beaten into my brain and muscle memory before i get anywhere near the golf course :)

Always since the lesson, I did it before but I was setting up wrong.

Stand behind ball, get grip and target line.

Set face to target and build stance, check shoulders

I guess I was taking more about specifically practicing your setup...in a mirror for example, rather than just your regular pre shot setup.

Wow- fair play- is there a specific routine or check list?

I don't have a big enough mirror for it lol

I do it no matter if there is a ball there or not, help it feel natural for me on the course then.

I have a spare putter and a few golf balls in the office. Putting on carpet is like putting on glass (or Carlow GC!) but I often use the putter practicing grip and swing arc at lunchtime. Get some right funny looks at times!!!

    Grip
    Posture/Stance
    Ball position
    Swing

If you're gonna do something, do it right. I do watch guys on the practice ground, chipping green or down the range and it's hit as many balls as quickly as is humanly possible. When I'm practicing, it could be up to 2 minutes per ball, sure if you were on the course, you'd typically have at least 2 minutes between any full shot :)

I'd follow the same as above typically, except for the grip. I cross my arms in an X formation on my chest, holding my shoulders with opposite hands and get myself into position, posture and stance, I then focus on turning my shoulders and maintaining my height on the way back as a routine for my swing

You'd hardly have a glass sliding door or large window anywhere in and around the house that would reflect ? I dont have a big enough mirror either, but i just use the back door, which is glass and watch myself in the reflection of it

Now that you say it I use the kitchen window from the back yard to make sure I'm not going further than parallel at the top of the swing :D

At the moment I just check posture,
When I mess with my grip swing feels weird and i end up drawing or turning my irons over,
When i leave my grip to what feels natural i strike irons well and hit straight shots with the odd cut,so going to leave grip alone.

Thanks to this thread, a bit more often. Always good to build on the fundamentals.

I went with always. Because I do.

There is the phrase about how you practise something over and over until it becomes "second nature", and sure I'd use that phrase myself. But it's important to remember that it's not always going to remain perfect or correct, and certain fundamentals can certainly slip away over time.

I say always, but I don't have a list of things I routinely check each practice round. But I'd do a little kinda "drop in" check to make sure certain things are the way they are supposed to be.

I've not been out much the last two weeks as the misses is expecting, but have been able to nip out for a pratice in the evenings. And noticed that my feet alignment has slipped. Not sure if it was just that particular round, or if it was happening frequently, but I was aiming left of target, when I should be aiming right of target.

My grip hasn't changed much since I changed it years back, but no harm just having a quick check to make sure its ok, and hasn't moved to be stronger or weaker.
