Joining a golf club to get a GUI card & handicap!

Hi, I'm relatively new to golf... Playing on and off for a year as a visitor in various golf clubs. I'm not a member of any club and I don't have a handicap! Does anyone know a cheap club in the Dublin area I could join just to get a handicap so I could play in open days etc? I live in South Dublin, so most of the options around me are pretty expensive I would imagine.

It's in wick low I think... It's one of if not the cheapest in Ireland... I know it's not the Dublin area but the price may justify the trip.....

It looks perfect, unfortunately it's in New Ross, Wexford. Too far of a drive until the M11 is finished. Thanks for the suggestion though

Grange Castle and Citywest both offer pay and play membership . As far as I know it's 2.10 to join till March .

Hibernian golf club, based at the K Club may suit you. 195 p.a. , then pay as you play at discounted rate. Competition every Sunday morning. Play your minimum 3 comps per year and cost is low. Play more as you like.

Have a look a Blessington Lakes. They offer full membership at 600 euro and pay and play at 150 euro.

Dayor Knight, do you know what their green fees are like? The K club site is quoting €67 for a saturday slot atm.

Hibernian Club members currently pay €40 to €45 (depending on time of year) plus €5 club competition fee on Sundays. You can check out the details at http://www.hiberniangolf.com/. Ring Brendan Cooling at the number given if you need any further info - Brendan is a gent.

I'd say Citywest or Grange Castle as already suggested, if you just want the handicap. But it's nice to get into a club environment so have a think about a club where you would want to play that course on a regular basis.
Of the two above, GC is the better course in my view.
