Will Alien V ever be a possibility?

I read that James Cameron and Ridley Scott planned such a movie in the early 2000's with Arnie as the lead.

The thoughts of another prequel don't excite me all that much

    I wouldn't want it.

If, and it's a big if, it had the right talent and cast then yeah, but I can't see it happening.

Would they bother now that Prometheus 2 is being done?

More likely a reboot , given the way these things work nowadays.

That'd be awful, save for the things like computer readouts Alien hasn't aged a bit. It's a stunning looking film even to this day.

Cameron was going to write a script for it and produce it with Scott directing when he found out Fox were going ahead with AVP.

He told them not to but they did anyways and he dumped the script.

    Source
“We never talked about [doing] ‘Alien 3,’ ” Cameron said. “I don't remember the timing exactly, but I might have been making 'The Abyss' at that time, also for Fox. What came up was the idea of doing ‘Alien 5,’ and at one point I pitched that I would write it and produce it, and Ridley would direct it, and we had lunch talking about this, and we were in violent agreement, then nothing happened. What happened was Fox went ahead with ‘Aliens Vs Predator,’ and I said, 'I really don't recommend that, you'll ruin the franchise, it's like Universal doing ‘Dracula versus the Werewolf,’ ' and then I lost interest in doing an Alien film

A Cameron written film with Scott directing could've been something special.

Alien Resurrection is one of the worst things I've ever seen. The first 2 might be classics but hopefully it's the last we see of this franchise.

I have a soft spot for Resurrection tbh. It's daft but I think it's a very entertaining fun film as long as you look at it separately from the other 3.

I can't though. Maybe that's why I hate it so much.

Proof not everything Joss Whedon does is gold as well. It has it's moments, and one thing I like about the Alien franchise is how each of the four movies has a completely different look and directorial approach, but Resurrection was a huge misstep.

I'd say Alien V is a certainty. Hollywood aren't going to say no to the kind of money that'd be on the table.
