Pre-interview job related tasks?

    Hi everyone.

Just a quick question. I have an interview next week and in the invitation they mentioned this: 'On arrival, as part of the recruitment process, you will be asked to perform a short job-related task. Details of this will be given on the day.'

My question is, does anyone have any experience with these sorts of things when attending interviews? I mentioned it in passing to the HR manager when I was speaking to her regarding something else - just to gauge her reaction - and she was definitely not up for discussing it (which I expected), except to say that I would be given details on the day.

This is obviously just a task they throw at you on the day to see how you handle it, but I am just wondering what types of such tasks have others encountered so I might have some idea of what to expect. The role is in healthcare/research if that helps.

    Any input appreciated.
    Cheers

had one interview with AOL when I used to live in waterford.
they had interviews like that, asked you to perform some basic computer tasks.
followed by giving you phone and they had staff member call it. to judge your phone manner etc.

an other interview gave me a written exam with some basic tech support questions and what you would do to attempt to trouble shoot the issue.

For the most part if you can do what you claim you can do on the CV. you will be fine. had a friend who was asked to write a basic java program for a dev postion.

Thanks for the reply. I think in my situation, they are more likely to be case scenarios, presentations. That kind of thing.
