PAYE workers registering as my Employers and how it affects my LPA

Im a single Mom on LPA. I have been offered a job minding kids for a family. They would prefer cash in hand, and simple and all as it sounds, I wld prefer to do it above board. I prefer being honest, but also obv there is risk involved and a fear of being caught out. I spoke to my local SW inspector and he said just to let them know in writing what extra Im earning and they will deduct accordingly.
The family are obv wary of me declaring this and naming them if they pay me cash, and worry if i send a letter to SW they will investigate why I am not reg 4 paye etc. and this will have implications for them.?
    My questions are these :~
    1) What is involved in the parents registering as my employers and paying my prsi, taxes etc? How would they go about this?
    2) If I were to work 20hours per week could I then apply for FIS and keep my LPA?
The family have said I can have the job if we can come to some arrangment to make us both happy regarding payment and without putting them to a great deal or trouble or implicating them in any way. Obv I can understand they could fill the position ten times over with ppl willing to take straight cash in their bavk pocket so I dont want to loose the position by being akward.. :/ I cant afford to not take the job :0
    Pls help! Thanks

Are you minding the children in your house or in theirs? If it is in your house, then you are self employed, and can earn 15000 tax free, but must still make a tax return, pay PRSI and declare to SW.

If you will be working in the families home, then you are their employee, and they must register as employers, and deduct tax and PRSI, as well as paying employers contribution. You should contact Childminding Ireland for more details. Www.childminding.ie

Technically they're breaking the law if they hire someone, whether it's you or someone else. If they want to be awful and not give it to you because you want to be a good citizen, make sure the SW know that they're illegally employing someone else. I'm sure the gov were banging on about cracking down on this particular type of thing recently.

Its revenue she needs to inform if they will be employing someone without paying contributions for them unless the person is in receipt of sw payment and willing to get cash in hand then its sw she needs to inform anon.

Ah yeah, good man. Point stands though, people think they can just do what they want!
