Do not know but if looking for barley straw I always try to get it off lads that are crimpimg grain. Seems to be more sap in it and more than likly there is a small extra bit of feeding in it. I think any lad especially along the west coast would be crazy to be bedding cattle, you would have a slatted tabk paid for in a few years.

This is one reason that prevents organic's from taking off. If paying 20+ euro/bale it really adds up in bedding costs

Well I'm lucky by default as there is plenty of it in the south east! At 8 quid a bale out of the field and and 2mile round trip on the draw it's cheap enough imo.. slats are handier, less labour intensive but attaining initial capital at the mo is the issue..

I pulled the plug on the winter stuff and said I would wait for the spring stuff.. thought I had heard something about differing quality so I will hold tight when there is plenty available..
