Painting exterior concrete block. Min time to wait between 1st and 2nd coat?

I'm going to get the outside wall whitewashed with Sandtex masonry paint.

Painter reckons he can put the 2 coats on in an evening (leaving perhaps 1 1/2 hours between first and second coat).

The tin says 3-4 hours between first and second, but I know these are generally conservative estimates to cover themselves.

Is 1 1/2 hours enough time for first coat to work, before 2nd coat applied?

Wall is in the shade, but well ventilated area.

Really depends on the weather and how porous the wall is,plus how heavy the coat is.

Once is looks dry your ok to re-coat.

As stated it depends on lots of factors.

the first coat will usually trap any stains/dirt and stabilise a surface but if you apply a 2nd coat before the first has dried enough you can get bleed through into the 2nd coat as well
