Post weaning management

Weaned my lambs last week at average 14 weeks. Worm dosed and put on lovely after grass. But very disappointed how they are looking and doing. Have 2 or 3 that are starting to pine. We're given cobalt also 3 weeks ago.

Any ideas?

worm dose mightn't have been effective, do a faecal egg count,
Cobalt dose only lasts a short time in their system, if there's a problem, a slow release bolus is a lot handier, scaley ears are usually a sign

as above ,plus

maybe check their feet we had a couple not thriving and found they had mild scalds
(was training a young dog on them who's a still a bit rough so maybe did't notice their walk)

Yea might do the carvel count. It was a bolus I gave them

I let the dry hoggets or few cast ewes out with them, keeps them quiet I think they can go bloody nuts some years on their own.

A different colour dose and a mineral lick bucket for €15 quid might kickstart them. I find the idea of a granny sheep can work great at times as well, to calm sheep down

What have you dosed with this year? Happened me a few years ago with a few and discovered I had high cocci in mid summer after fec test showed high. Have it under control now. Have they black back ends?

it often takes a minimum of 2 weeks for lambs to get thriving after weaning. I weighed mine after 2 weeks on lovely clover aftergrass and could only get 8 lambs. 1 week later I got another 37, just takes a while to settle.

Thanks for replies. Will do a farcical count for start and take from there
