Can't get Barbecue connector into hose

I had to trim the hose connecting my propane tank to the BBQ on the connector end (i.e. not the regulator but the part that screws into the barbecue itself). Can I get it back into the hose? Can I f*ck.

    The connector looks like this:

You can see it's ridged. This is definitely not for my pleasure. I've tried using a bit of fairy liquid and the most I can manage is to get it past the first one, the next two are impossible.

I assume I'm doing something silly here. Can anyone help?

Place the hose in boiling water until it goes very soft then it will pop on easily enough for you. Had to do it loads of times.

Quick follow up, the whole hose or just the end? Tried with just the end (boiled it for about 5 mins) and no joy.

Just the end always worked for me once it softened the hose it pops right on with a bit of force.

As TCP/IP says just put the end of the hose (end = the part that will be on the connector :p) into boling water for about 30 seconds and then force it (and perhaps twist it) onto the connector. It usually goes on pretty handy but some effort may be required.

PS The end will be hot so take care with the hands

    Hi OP

Spray WD40 or other substance (oil) on to the metal part. Then dip the end of the hose into proper boiling water for around 3 minutes.

    It will go on .

I've been trying for the last hour and the only think I've got to show for my trouble is torn skin on my palms from trying to push it up onto the hose. I'm hands down the most inept man I know.

Don't spray any type of oil as oil will rot the rubber on the hose

Silicone will not rot the hose.

Yes I know silicone won't. WD40 or other oil will
