Injured Robin?

I found an injured Robin this morning and have put it in a box with water and some dog food. It appears to have a damaged wing. We are bringing the Robin to our local wildlife rehab centre later (had to rush on to work this morning) but I am worried it might be a parent bird with a nest of hungry young somewhere? My OH thinks any chicks would have fledged by now. He also thinks it could have been hurt by a rival Robin, I know they are territorial but is it possible for them to fight enough to cause injury?
I am hoping someone on this forum can advise, I would prefer to release the Robin where we found it if possible.

Chicks haveindeed been more or less fledged at this stage. Robins are territorial but fights rarely lead to injury. It is important that the bird, when recovered, should be released near where it was found.
    Well done!
