How to get address associated with a PPSN changed

    I am receiving mail for a person that no longer lives at my address (obviously they haven't changed their details themselves, or perhaps they are deceased).

    The mail appears to be governmental, e.g. State Benefit mail, and I usually pop it back in the post and return it with a note on the envelope saying the person no longer lives here.

    Yet the mail still comes so I opened a letter and I see the PPSN on the letter.

    Who can I contact to change the address associated with a PPSN?

    Do you know where this person lives now? If you do I would put the next correspondence in an envelope and include a note to warn them that any more correspondence will be shredded.
    If not then put the letter in an envelope with a note attached stating that the person no longer lives there and address it to your local sw office. No stamp required, write free post where the stamp should be.

    Just continue as you have been doing. Write return to sender and person not known at this address and throw it back in the mailbox. I wouldn't send it to the local office, if they didn't send it out they'll just end up sending it on to wherever did send it.

    I went direct to the head office at lunchtime today, hopefully they'll get it rectified as they said they'd bring it upstairs immediately*


    *civil service definition of "immediately" which I guess is 5 years?
