Tall person travelling to Oz

Myself and wifey are travelling to Oz next February for a few weeks. She's only 5'4" so has no problems, but I'm 6'4" and need to find the seats with the most legroom.

From my research it seems that Malaysia & Korean Air are the best, but I wanted to see if anyone has any experience flying with them to Oz? My brother-in-law lives over there and has travelled with Emirates a few times - he speaks quite highly of them but the online reviews of economy class are not great.

I've flown with Malaysia Airlines to Oz about 10 years ago, found them fine, but they were 747's at the time, they have newer stuff on those routes since which might have a different layout, but I doubt they have changed much. Mate of mine lived there for a few years, he flew a few and found Malaysia one of the better for room, can't remember which one he also recommended though, don't think he was impressed with Emirates though. He's around 6ft 4 also, I'm small - only 5'11" :)
Here's a site that will help you though, the leg room varies on seats depending on where it is. Sometimes the row in front of an emergency exit can be squashed because of the extra room behind. Also avoid the seats just by the bulkheads, you might get an extra inch of knee room but you can't stretch your legs under the seat in front. Also seats in front of bulkheads don't recline.

Find an airline where you can book emergency exit seats of splash out for premium economy.

I would not fly Emirates if you are a tall person, their planes tend to be very cramped in my experience.

Last Feb I did the long haul trip to Oz with Emirates, Dublin to Dubai I had a row seats to myself so it was nice to be to stretch out! I travelled out on a Sunday and there were plenty of empty seats (something to bear in mind if you haven't booked your tickets yet) Dubai to Bangkok, It was an A380 and while travelling on the earlier flight my seat got changed to 68K. I was able to stretch my legs out fully (I'm 6ft 1, so that was lovely) If at any point your on an A380 that would be the seat to try and get. Best thing to do would be to ask before you leave Dublin. My luck ran out from Bangkok to Sydney... I got the window seat and was cramped for 10 hours... Oh how I wished that flight would end even before we left.

Just get the seats by the exits? At least with Ryanair they have loads of extra space! (:

Thanks for the options - one question on the exit row seats. Obviously there's no seat directly in front so you have legroom, but do you still get your own TV? I could do without it tbh in favour of comfort but am just curious.

You do. It's usually stored between the seats for take off and landing but you pull it out when you want to use it.

Perfect, I'll just book one of the emergency exit rows in that case. Thanks! :D

Maybe too late but 3 things to be aware with the emergency ext rows:
    1. They are sometimes (but not always) colder due to the proximity of the doors
    2. The seats are narrower - as your table tray and inflight screen are stowed in the armrest
    3. They are quite often close to bulkheads that are used to hang bassinets (baby cradles) so they can be quite loud if a screaming baby is on board
