Am replacing a swollen capacitor on my TV, it 35v 470uf YXG. My question is, can I replace this with a capacitor with the same voltage and microfarad but with a different series number (YXG)? Is the series very important? Also where to buy capacitors with quick postage to Ireland? Thanks for any replies guys

The important factor in my opinion would be the operating temperate - 105 Celsius versus 85 Celsius. TV enclosures can be quite hot so the higher temp will fair better. Also as in all things - you get what you pay for.

Also if one is swollen then the rest won't be far behind - replace the large ones on the main supply rails out to the PCBs. Start with anything with a working voltage of under 63V.

    Ken
