2010 Astra J - heavy clutch pedal?

My girlfriend recently purchased a 2010 Astra (5dr, 25,000kms). It's a nice car however the clutch pedal is very heavy to operate? (I have driven trucks with lighter clutch pedal operation).

From online research I have read various solutions/suggestions/remedies -

    - The clutch pedal spring is to blame
    - The clutch cable gets very warm from the engine and gets stiff to operate over time
    - There was a recall by Opel/Vauxhall to replace faulty dual-mass flywheels/pressure plates

Does anybody here know if there was a recall by Opel?
Or have you fixed the problem by replacing the spring or cable?
