Anyone gone over this hill near tourmakeady? Thinking of doing it this Sunday. Are the roads over the hill in good shape for a road bike on 23mm tyres? Seems like it would be tough enough - 5km at about 6% average

Nice climb and you will have no problem with 23mm tyres.

The road is fine. Its been part of our sportive and the Ballinrobe 2 day. This year its the TT.
They went over it in the Tour of Ireland a few years back.
    Enjoy

    Fine for 23mm.
It's (imo) tougher heading from Tourmakeady to Westport direction than the other way around.......

Depending on your fitness you can also do a lumpy loop on the Aughagower side and come back over and there is a higher road option above the r300 which gives you another climb.
Lydons is where the Cunga Cc base their social/fundraising events . John will be able to give you any route advice needed if in the area for a few days
