Another filling the loop thread (advise or help needed)

Ok. My boiler is a mynute12e, and I need to find out how to refill ot top up the loop.

I should clarify that the boiler is actually firing up, but lately is started to make a very strange noise when it's burning, also the pressure is at 0.

The boiler comes on every evening for a half hour by timer, (kids bath) all the thermostats in the house are at zero (so as only the water for the bath heats)

Can someone confirm I'm doing everything right?

I do remember calling my plumber mate before who talked me through how to fill the loop, but calling him isn't an option now.

I have attached a picture of the inside of my hot press.

My house is 8 year old if it makes any difference. Boiler serviced last year by Airtricity sub contractor.

Turn the black wheel on the valve with the pressure gauge anti-clockwise to open the valve and allow water in.
Watch the gauge and close the valve when it just passes the 1 bar mark.

Turned it anti clockwise, bloody wheel came off in my hand.

I will go at it in the morning with some vise grips.

Phillips head screw in the bottom, but a screwdriver is obviously only loosening the screw, not the valve.

Thanks kflyer, I'll get at it in the morning whenever the wife goes to work. She's hovering over me telling me "I'll flood, or blow up the house".

The noise you speak of, is it a crackling hissing gurgling noise?

No, it's just the noise of the boiler (the actual flames), just doesn't sound like it's burning correctly. (hard to describe)

Before you go at it with a grips, see will it turn clockwise.
The are usually not hard to turn, so it may be open already. If it is open, then it might be the spring loaded valve thats stuck.
But see how you go with the first part in the morning.

Hi. K.fkyer, ok, got it moving anticlockwise, then it turned a bit clockwise. Got it up to 1.5 bar, but it slowly went down again.

It's now sitting at 0.5 bar, but the flame in the boiler doesn't seem to want to ignite any more.

Just checked, and it was actually due a service on 16th July (oops) but I remember getting a guy out before to fix a valve, he said he couldn't touch boiler, I got a lad then to service boiler, he advised me some valve would need changed and I'd need a plumber.

Any suggestions, are there plumbers qualified to work on the gas boiler and valves in the hot press, and any idea (ball park) of price.

Or anyone you could recommend by pm?

I'm in the Naas general area.

Edit, actually the flame is igniting, albeit staying lit for approx 30secs before going out, I need to turn boiler off and on again for it to ignite again.

If it starts and then goes out after 30 seconds , water isn't your problem . Is the led flashing when it goes off , or is it solid red?

    Hi Egass

I think I sussed it myself. In the first pic there is a knob numbered 1-6, this was at number 2, I turned it back to 6 and the flame stays lit now constantly.

Still would like that valve sorted though, may as well get it done now befor3 winter sets in.

Anyone fancying a nixer can pm please.
