    Hi,

A friend of a friend's daughter is looking to be an Au-Pair in Ireland. She is German, was brought up on and works on a Dairy farm doing all the usual dairy farm jobs, milking, tractor driving, stock work etc. She is looking to improve the her English and could spend 3 months this year, Sept-Nov or next summer here.

Has anyone had an Au-pair on farm? Can anyone recommend an agency or anyone have any contacts?

    Would be much appreciated!:)

we have au-pairs here for the last 7-8 years, they dont do any farm work, but if the have an interest i show them around and can do jobs if they want. the current one helps to mind one of the daughters pony.
they work well for child minding, with the odd hours of farming and the miss works odd hours as well, so there is always some one in the house to watch kids if a cow is calving etc.
the main duration for stay are 3 months for the summer before going to collage or a 9-10 month stay from sept while they take a year out to learn english

pm if you want to know any more

Look up 'Woofers'. I think that's what it/they are called. Sounds similar to what you're describing.

What kind of money do they work out at a week dar31 ?
I like the idea of having someone minding the kids that you wouldn't be tied down to exact times like with a creche or childminder but wouldn't fancy sharing the house with someone else either . How do you find that aspect of it ?
