Hi, I am flying to Manchester in a few weeks to bring my daughter to a match but she uses her mothers surname and not mine. Will there be any issue with travelling? We are flying with flybe and ryanair. Thanks in advance

Can't see why it would be a problem I doubt you are the first person in this situation.

I flew RyanAir from Paris a few years back with my children who have their father's surname. There was no problem but I had copies of their birthcerts, his passport and a signed letter from him saying we were travelling with his consent. Bit of overkill I suppose as we were not stopped anywhere but had there been any queries I was ready for them.

Might be handy to take those precautions just incase. Thanks

my wife has the same name as myself and the kids and leaving Germany the last time by air (we normally do the 1200km trek to Cherbourg or a bit longer via England) she was grilled on where the father was and whatnot.

I reckon that was just the border guard cop fishing to see if she got nervous and if there was a case to answer, but nevertheless we were a little surprised that they brought it up.

    That's mad.

There's no correct answer to that question.

    How about -
    'At home watching telly'
'Playing Croke Park for 5 nights'
'Haven't seen the lazy good for nothing in 15 years'
'Under the patio, wrapped in a rug'

There are a million different answers and they can all be right.

well in her case it was "he just dropped me off so I can ring him to come back if you really want" or something along those lines.
