fastbraces?

I'm researching options to get braces for myself, and was so far thinking linguals or ceramics (out of vanity!). A dentist friend of mine said I should also consider fastbraces?

Not sure if I can post a link so I won't to be safe, but apparently they aren't like 6 month braces. The way she explained it to me was that 6 month braces just do the basics and can't be compared to normal fixed braces, but the new fastbraces are comparable to proper fixed braces? According to their website it's because the wire and shape they use allows for roots to be moved from day one? Any input or experience would be much appreciated thank you!

In dental terms speed does not go hand in hand with a good job.... imo...

I would have thought so too, which is why I had ruled out 6 month braces and invisalin etc, but my dentist friend said these are different, and the info on their website makes them look different to half assed approaches?

I'm no orthodontist but if you move the teeth too fast you risk damaging the roots of the teeth leading to big problems. It can also lead to a more unstable result that is prone to relapse.....

I am no orthodontist, but all these quick braces (more correctly limited objective orthodontics) work in the same principle, that is that they do not fully correct the bite or malocclusion but concentrate on the issues that bother adult patients most. They are sometimes most heavily marketed by dentists with limited training and experience with orthodontics.

From talking to orthodontists, these treatment have their pros and their cons. I would recommend you visit a dentist that provides ALL forms of braces treatments because if your only tools is a hammer, all your problems look like nails.

As oral surgeon says there are certain immutable biological limits to how fast teeth can be move safely that cannot be overcome with a fancy bracket or wire.

I think that all these things can work well and work terribly depending on who does it and case selection. Seek a consultation with a orthodontist/ dentist with experience in providing all forms of braces so your getting the treatment that you need not the only treatment the dentist provides.
