Morocco from Spain

Hoping to visit Morocco for a few days in October. Priced flights from Cork (where I'm based) to Malaga and they were 196 euro return which seems ok, hoping to get the ferry from Tarifa in Spain across to Tangiers. As I'm only going for a few days I want to find the most hassle free way of getting to Morocco. Could fly from Dublin to Marrakech for 250 euro but have the added hassle and expense of getting to Dublin and back and the dates don't suit as much. Has anyone else travelled by ferry from Spain? Is Malaga the handiest airport to fly into do ye think?

Aer Lingus also fly to Agadir and costs traveling to Dublin from Cork city is only around 20e on bus which operate 24/7.

How do you plan getting to the port on Spanish side? If I remember correctly its doable in 2h to 2.5h and its motorway for most of the route.

I have taken the ferry to Tangiers however it was just a day trip. Ferry was fine.

Thanks for your reply. Checked out the flights to and from Dublin and Agadir though and they're 331 each as opposed to 196 each to and from Malaga and Cork. Handy to know for another time maybe. I know that it can be only 20 euro to Dublin from Cork if I travel to Marrakech but the flight back arrives in late and would mean Id either have to pay to stay in Dublin. The dates also don't suit work wise and because Id have to miss a personal commitment. So back to the original plan of flying in to Spain. I could possibly rent a car and drive from Malaga down if there isn't somewhere closer to fly into. Or does anyone know of a better route? Ferries seem to be fairly well priced and run regularly once you get to Tarifa.

Algeciras is more convenient to Malaga and a busier port than Tarifa. No routes to Tangiers city though, only Tangier Med.

Some ferry route info here 7 hours Malaga to Melilla but then you need to pass out of enclave into Maroc. Expect delays and queues. Same entering via Ceuta enclave.

Have you considered a flight connection via London on the return?
The real city attractions are the royal cities Marrakesh, Fes, Meknes.

I have used this ferry route, the poster above mentions Algeciras and that is where I stayed and got the fast ferry the next morning, if you go down to the Algeciras ferry port there is a free transfer that links up with the fast ferry departure from Tarifa, this is what we did. Where do you want to see in Morocco? Just wondering as while Tangiers was very interesting it wasn't my absolute favourite part of Morocco and due to the large number of day trippers from Spain there was a bit of a hassle factor there. I can recommend an awesome place to stay there though, La Tangerina, so relaxing and just all round super place to stay. Chefchaouen is quite close to Tangiers and it was one of my favourite places, so beautiful with all the buildings painted blue, definitely worth checking out. Any questions just shout!
