    Hi,

Didn't know whether to post here or in the motorcycle section.

Been looking about for a quad and seen some Chinese items for sale at roughly 1/3 the cost of the main producers.

Are these items any good? I've seen some bad reviews for them over a few years ago, but have they got their act together now or what is the information on them?

Been looking at brands like BTS, Pioneer, Shineray, etc.

    Thanks.

No no no. Scrap. Get a jap bike instead, a clean 2nd hand won't be too much more, will be 10times more reliable, and you will get similar to what you paid for it in afew yrs whereas the cheap one will be worthless.

Chinese quads are ok if you leave them in the shed the minute you start using them have plenty spare parts ready. I bought one for my son a few years ago and it only got light use the bushings wore constantly. I had to get a decent chain and a complete brake system off a scrapped motorbike. Brake pads wear fast on them. I was lucky enough to sell it on for half the price the fella that bought it had it on the scrap heap a week later.

We were n similar situation 6 yrs ago lookin at cheap ways to get a Quad for the farm.
Looked at a lot of options. €1000 to spend. We went to main dealers for them nd ended up with a 300cc Honda 2wd. Rough but reliable. It done for 3yrs and we wanted a 4wd as hilly ground, wet paddocks were a problem!

Traded it in and the same dealer gave us €1200 for it!! :) we didn't do much maintenance.

So got a bike for €4000 with Constant 4wd, gud brakes, fresh bike 2008 it's a 350cc mighty yoke to go.

She was doing fine for 2yrs and we changed to a 500cc 4wd/2wd button select a month ago, we traded the old bike and got €3500 trade n value.
Changed because we spread Fertilser with it, Gud bit of Spraying. Wider, heavier, Electric gear change..... The list goes on!

So we're sticking with Honda for service and reliability. They hold value too which is great!!

The old Hondas will keep going for years. I have a 8 year old one still prefect. You get what you pay for.

Wouldn't mind getting quad and a weed licker and trailer for getting timber out of our forestry! All funds must first go on stock unfortunately :O! Aww I'll get there eventually!!

Absolute junk, I purchased an unbranded quad , broke my heart, built like sh!te , fell to bits, buy Honda If you can or Suzuki, far superior machines , no point in buying cheap to buy twice, just like I did

+1 absolute sh**e, had a jap one when i was younger and while it took a good bit of abuse, usual flat out, sideways, ring marks all over the place etc., it gave up sooner than i would of hoped and would imagine a honda or the likes would last 10 times longer if looked after
