What are my chances of getting a part time job in Galway? I'm hoping to get a course in NUIG. I'll probably look for bar work or working in a cafe. Do you think I will have much look finding one around late August?

Do you have experience? If you did then you might get something. Without experience though you need to know the manager to be even looked at. Most of the people I know with jobs are either from the area or they go home to their jobs. Dont actually know anyone who is not from Galway that has a job there.

I worked in a Cafe for a few weeks, but that is my only experience. I'm not from the area so it will probably be impossible. I will be moving to Galway so if I don't get something this year I might get something next year.

Worth trying, I definitely regret not working more during my undergrad. Depending on what you're doing, you could have a ton of free time, especially in first year.

If you can't, you might be able to grab something around May for the summer and keep it beyond that?

I worked in a cinema from first year until my final year. Very suitable for students as its mostly weekend work but you can pick up evenings during the week as well.

Would it be better go to up on the last week of August before the influx of students? I'll try Cafes, Bars, Restaurants and shops, hopefully I'll find something. The cinema would be ideal, I'll try it anyway.

Go up as early as you can. Go before last week of August if you can

If you have that little bit of experience, try and big it up a bit and also dont forget to say you'd be willing to do a trial shift. If they can see what you can do they'd be more inclined to say yes..applies to more cafes than restaurants tthough
