    Hey!

I am looking for a car asap.
I am looking at a quite powerful diesel.
I travel often to cycle and surf, so looking at an estate.
Looking for a nice spec; leather seats, cruise control, good stereo, parking sensors: think it is called the Elegance spec.
Ideally a post July 2008 car to avail of the tax advantages.
But I could also go for a 2006 -2008 car.
For me the Octavia 2.0 tdi estate is the car!

Would this be considered a decent car.
My budget is approx 8K euro...
I am looking on carzone, donedeal and adverts.ie & have phoned 2/3 Skoda garages for the Irish market...
Could you recommend websites to search for this car in the Uk/N Ireland?

I have read the post on importing a car from UK/N Ireland, which was really helpful, but just looking for places to search online..

    Thanks so much!

    A

They are rare enough in Ireland In estate form. There are a few VRS estate on done deal though.

You won't buy a decent 2008 one of them for €8k.

Here is a 2006 within budget:

    Avoid the newer 2.0 VAG engines...stick with a 1.9
The 2.0 are known to give triuble

Injectors are replaced FOC on the PDs. Other than a few sensors and a dodgy DPFs the CRs are probably one of the more reliable units available. Unless you buy one for small mileage.

    Hey! Thanks for the replies..
I saw the ad for that estate octavia on carzone; have phoned the seller..

Would you rate a car with that spec as worth a punt?
(On basis that all facts are true, full service history etc)

I like the idea of a 2.0 tdi as it has that bit more power than the 1.9...

Think the vrs tdi are a bit ott for me!!

Ideally, i was hoping to get a post July 2008 model to save on tax..
But if the car is 2006 i suppose i will save money on the purchase price...,

Unless you up your budget then you won't get a decent 2008 one.
