Can't connect to Wifi

    Hey guys.

I'm staying at an apartment where everyone else can connect to the wifi except my laptop. My phone can connect no problem, but not my laptop.

When I go to the network and sharing center there's an X going from the router to the internet.

I was able to connect to wifi the first day sporadically but the past two days have just been a total blank.

There's the yellow ! in the tast bar over the wifi icon and no internet comes up when I hover over it.

As I said, everyone else is connected to the same network with zero problems, so it's a setting on the laptop.

Desperately need wifi for my work, so I would appreciate if someone could guide me through fixing this issue?

    Thanks in advance.

If you right click on the wifi icon in the task-bar, do you get the option to troubleshoot ?

Bit of a cliche but did you
"Switch everything off and switch it on again ?"
    Including the router

Yep, tried all the above and still won't connect.

It's strange though, because a few times it will connect for a few mins and then nothing for hours and hours.

I've tried a few youtube videos to fix it, but still nothing.

Have you got your wifi enabled on the laptop. Sometimes it can be switched off accidently or automatically. If you look at the Fn key and then look for one of the F keys that has the wifi logo. See if it works. Open the wifi connection on the bottom right and hit refresh

My laptop sometimes says that the settings saved do not match requirements of my router. I have to change the wifi password on the router to get it working again.

Update: I've been connected to the wifi for the past 1.5 hours with zero problems.

Then when I restarted my laptop, the problem persisted again with saying it's connecting, but nothing happens?

Any suggestions lads? It's a week now and still nothing.

It connects to cafe wifi's and other connections no problem, but it means I'm spending long hours working in cafes rather than at home because of nothing having a solid connection.

Must be some solution for it?

Couple of things to maybe try.

*Update drivers from manufacturer website, not windows update.
*delete the driver and adapter and restart computer, windows should find it and reinstall as new hardware on restart
*Is the WiFi signal clashing with others nearby? Try switching the channel, 1,6 or 11 are usually good ones but check other WiFi signals around you to make sure.
*Is is 802.11 A, B, G, N? Could it be switching between 2.4ghz and 5ghz when your wireless card in your laptop only supports one of the bands?
*Have you tried restoring router to factory settings.

Is there a limit on the number of devices that the modem will support ? Some 3g/4g modems have a limit of 5.
