Cracking TV - check it out.

Just a shame (for me) it hasn't a satellite tuner.

Ooh tempting, but reading the reviews suggests it suffers a bit from motion lag and not great with SD content and the big selling point of the UK catch up tv probably wouldn't work here?

Still, tempted to take a punt on it as I mostly watch HD stuff anyway

    Is this TV Saorview compatible?

    Second seperate query...

Also looking at it as a replacement for an old vga monitor with ariel only input for a second room that now only receives sky through a co-axial splitter.

Have 1 x CAT5e cable & 1 x RG Coaxial cable at this point. Fed from attic where a spare CAT5e cable runs to the skyplus HD Box location in the Living Room, along with used co-ax runs.

(My Terrestial Ariel is in the attic)

Any advice on how to distribute sky over this setup would be appreciated, or am I better sticking with my existing analogue sky distribution over co-ax arrangement?

Direction to another suitable Thread may be needed on this query. (Thanks)

Yes. It says it is DVB-T compatible so will receive Saorview.

Just came on here to post this.

Amazon have it @ £550 and Richersounds have it @ £500 but with a 5 year warranty.

So for €415 delivered, it's a frickin' steal!

I'm tempted myself. Looking for a 2nd TV so it won't be used as the main one. Should a bit of motion lag be enough to put me off?

Its down as 100Hz refresh rate.
Aka- the average person isn't going to have any issues with lag on it- perhaps if you're watching a lot of very fast paced sports- you might notice it on occasion- but for everyday use, it would be imperceptible.

Well my existing TV is a 4 year old Samsung with 60hz refresh and that's never bothered me so I'd imagine this would be a better TV due to advances in technology

Techradar review says its not real 100Hz just some software that simulates this and that this compromises viewing. It recommends it mainly for the apps and Freeview/Catch-up package which is great if you live in the UK but not usable in Ireland. It is a good price but it sounds like you get what you pay for. Have to say that most iBood deals seem to be in this category - never really any great bargains once you take a closer look at whats on offer.

Agree with what you're saying but a 42 inch as a 2nd TV from a decent brand, makes it good value, in my opinion

Gooing at this with the Mammy here and we are both clueless when it comes to technology. In the discussion section of iBood a poster has doubts about it being saorview compatible.

(We are upgrading from a decade-old 32 inch Philips)

Is it a good price folks?

John lewis in the UK has it for 500 sterling and it's 550 sterling with Amazon. Personally for the price I think it's good, given that it's Panasonic. Usually for a similar price you'd be getting some unknown brand. Unless someone tells me its a disaster of a TV, then I think I can put up with some shortcomings.

Why do you need saorview if you have sky in your house and have it split to different rooms?

€779 in power city, very tempting but have heard bad things about IBOOD regarding getting refurbished/second hand items.

I've only bought from them once and there was no issue. I have seen them selling refurbished items but they've clearly stated it when they are used. The only issue I have with them is that their shipping price is the same for a toothbrush, as it is for a tv!

Good to know.If its BNIB then its a bargain.I noticed that with the shipping as well, same price to ship a flash drive as a TV?!

I must have bought dozens off things off iBood down the years (they've been around over a decade)- never had any issues. I've had a TV and an airconditioning unit delivered to work, and loads of things home.

Occasionally- things may take improbably long to ship- but even that is unusual.

I've a friend who had a TV screen damaged when the plug was put against the screen during shipping. WHile it was annoying- she got a replacement from them without question.

Its not a bad company to deal with.

To have the ability to watch different channels in different rooms....(without paying extra for this privelege with Sky)

Try to find some recommended settings online as the tvs never look great out of the box.
True Cinema or Cinema are usually the best mode ,you will need to adjust the backlight, contrast etc.

Any good deals on a 50 inch tele, promised I'd buy one as a wedding present for my sister

im using true cinema and i have tried cinema. in fact, ive tried all the settings. on some channels the quality is good but on others it is just awful. anything i download to watch is generally very bad too. there is blotching everywhere, most noticeable with darker colours. the image is lagging a lot too. has anyone here got the same problem?
