Garda laser detector?

I was coming home from work in a taxi on a back road a few minutes ago. Came to a cross roads and just in the road ahead,dead on one of the white lines, was this black yoke with blue lasers shining out of it. It sort looked like the yoke attached but upside down and these blue lasers shining out of it into the left hand side of the road.

Was it something the garda use to like detect cars or something?

Or maybe it was aliens. Or a bomb.

You must have been locked op.

If the Cops were there it would have been a LED light unit to show there presence and hopefully slow motorists as to not run them over.

It wouldnt be a cctv dome camera anyway.
