I have used an iPhone for the past few years - and found it the first camera to take decent photographs. As I've only used iPhone , I'd be interested to know what other people have found as good quality camera on a phone - not interested in massive mega pixel statistics - just what people think are now better than the iPhone - best quality sharpish image - I've heard the Samsung Galaxy is good - is it better than iPhone ?

HTC one (m7). I might be alone - but in my case its awful. Truly awful. Unless its the brightest of bright days (and I live in Sydney) more than half of the pics are out of focus and I get a really strong and horrible purple vinette across all pics. I dont even try to take a pictures with the flash.

In fact I think i'll take it back today to complain

Samsung Galaxy 5 phone is superb for static shots.
Kevin referring your htc m7 they go for low pixel count but larger sized (meant to be better for letting in more light for night shots) So that wouldn't be ideal for what you're probably using it for.
Barry the Sony xperia latest ones are pretty good too....all these new phones are pretty expensive though so a Samsung galaxy 4 might suffice...

Referring iPhone quality compared to what I mentioned....not much in it from what I've heard but I just love the larger screen on the Samsung Galaxy's

My phone is a Sony Xperia S, and the pretty decent camera (for a phone) that it has is what got me interested in taking photos. It's not that great in darker light, mind. I've had it for more than 2 years now, though, so it's a bit out-dated. That said, if the new Xperia phones are built with the same quality, then I think they'll be great! Plus, I'm sure the camera quality will only have improved. Here are a couple of photos. I know some of them are not technically great, but for a phone camera the quality of the pictures isn't too bad :) Just to give you an idea at least! :)

Not overly impressed with the camera in my Samsung Note 3. The virtual tour mode is nice though,

I haven't tried a samsung galaxy myself but I have a friend who has one and while the pictures seem fine the big problem is his lens keeps getting damaged.

I've been on windows for the last few phones, I have a Nokia lumia 920 and it takes surprisingly good photos and the camera has all the features you'd expect to find on a point and shoot camera. I've never really scrutinized the quality of the photos too much because if I want a quality shoot I'll use my DSLR but it's certainly on a par with a dedicated point and shoot camera.

I got the HTC One M7 and really enjoy using it. Its the only camera i have on me most of the time and ive gotten some great shots with it. Sure its not going to be amazing In a dark nightclub, but the sensor is a few mm in size, no camera phone is.

In regards to quality (even in "relatively" low light) i find it great, quick to focus, great DOF if you use it correctly. Prob the best camera phone ive used.

Ive used it last weekend with some new recently walking babies and it was tack sharp. My 5DII would have done better, but 3x better, im dubious, which is amazing as this is a camera phone.

Some older shots below from the HTC One M7. Some have gotten a bit of Photoshop, but i do that even with photos from my 5DII:

Cheers for that - confirms what I hoped. Mine is going back for warranty repair this week

I had three HTC hardware failures (camera twice). Lost faith in the brand after that.

I had the opposite experience. Had a Desire, its 3 years old and still in use by my brother, not a single issue with it.

I have the HTC One (M7) and no problems. 18months and ticking.

My other half has the HTC One (M8) and has no issues with it. the camera on that is even better than on the M7, wish it was mine!

Not available on many networks though? All I can see is the 925.

We gave one out as a prize for the Boards Photobook 'QuickShot' event (very kindly sponsored by O2) last year, I was just a tiny bit jealous!!

I have never bought a phone from a network or had one on contract. I just acquired an LG G2 for my son and that isn't available in Ireland - nor is my Nokia 720.

The Nokia 1020 is readily available to anyone who can type "amazon.co.uk" and "Nokia 1020 sim free" :)

    nokia 1020 for me too.

and it's reduced to £254 on tesco at the moment (black and yellow - SIM free) - absolute bargain. Use parcel motel for delivery.

The reviews on the Nokia's are all positive, but I wouldn't be a fan of the windows OS

I think it's much easier to use and looks better, the only big drawback is the lack of apps.

Agreed, I used a Windows phone for a couple of years and loved it. I'm on Apple now but going back would be tough, mainly due to Hailo and a few other very simple apps. A pity as I definitely preferred the Windows OS.
