Woodies.ie (http://www.woodiesdiy.com/mobile/Product/Round-Up-Weedkler-140ml-50-Extra-FREE/9545/4.4.2) quotes this at €114/litre which is more than 10 times the cost of the same product if you buy 5 litres at most local agri stores. Even the Heatons price comes in about 5 times the cost......but it's the cheapest for that volume.

OK it's a bit of a stretch from 1/5 of a litre to 5 litres but you can get 5 litres of roundup in most garden centres for around E60 anytime, on sale it might be 20% less. There's a roundup equivalent (rosate 36 is what I got) that can be had for about E40 for 5l (not 100% if its the same thing but I was told it was). Moral - buy big! On a related subject someone once told me that bags of fertilizer attract 0% VAT (at farm sizes vs garden sizes??) but bags of "feed and weed" attract VAT at x%. Not sure how true this is but it would kinda make sense.

If you want a small bottle of concentrated glyphosate (roundup), you can buy a litre of hygeia weed free 360 for about €15, alternatively you can buy Gallup home and garden for about €18, both have the same active ingredient. Most customers I sell hygeia weed free 360 to, buy it again, and there's the added bonus of the company being irish. As regards fertilisers, anything 10kg and over is 0% vat, however apart from using 7-6-17 or 10-10-20 on your lawn or for potatoes, many of the smaller fertilisers will have other nutrients, which are better for the overall health of your plants I.e. Miracle-gro. Things like seamungus in a 12kg bucket, are 0% vat, whereas the 2kg is 23%.
