    Hi,

I recently switched jobs and on my second payslip to my shock i recieved a princely USC charge of 667 euro. My deduction should be around 147 a month. It was also effectively double my paye of 383

Any idea why this could be?

Also any advice on claiming this back?

Did u give in a p45 to new employer and/or ring revenue to give them your new employer details? Were you paying correct rate of usc in previous job? Firstly ask payroll people on Monday and then check with revenue if they can't help you. Normally employer gets info downloaded directly from revenue for each employee and they must use this so it leaves little room for errors on employers side.

My previous employer were a bit slow off the mark when it came to getting my p45 despite the fact I should have had it and have requested it numerous times and still have not got a physical p45. My previous employer said "they sent it online" During this i also contacted the revenue directly informing them of the situation and my current employer.

I from what i know was paying prsi in full but will double check this before i ask.

You are probably taxed on an emergency basis. Or you were undertaxed in your previous employment and this was corrected by revenue on your new tax credits cert. If you provide further details I could check for you but you should just ask your employer or payroll office.

Cheers Ciaran, this months payroll was status N which I assume as being normal. Last Month Before it was E. It was the USC was 4 x the amount it should be PAYE and PRSI were fine.
