Delaying P45

    I am finished my job from Augest 1st as my temporary contract ends then. I finished last week and am taking holidays due to me at the moment. I emailed my HR before I left asking when I would receive my P45. Assumed it would be issued on Augest 1st but theyre saying they wont issue until mid Augest, something to do with not being in time for July payroll.

    Am I entitled to my P45 straight away and if so can anyone link me anywhere this is in writing? This HR department are awful to deal with and based in London. I left once before and it took over a month to get my P45. I will be presenting myself to dole office on Augest 1st so will obviously need my p45 ASAP. Thanks

    Get a letter from the company saying you are unemployed.

    It's likely the company wont have closed off the July month end process and would be unable to process your P45 which falls into the next period.

    I remember an employee who couldn't get a P45 from her previous employer and we eventually rang revenue and revenue said there was nothing they could do.

    I don't see anything wrong in what your company is doing.

    Moved from Work and Jobs: I think the real question here is about the effect of not having a P45 on the day of dole application. Am sure this must be a common problem.

    Thanks for the reply. I have a copy of my contract which shows my leave date so will provide Social Welfare this and hope this will suffice

    Sign on,the first day you are unemployed.If your contract ends on 1st august your P45 will show this when it is issued,your job seekers claim will be backdated to the date on the P45.

    Just ask them to either send you an email or a letter on 1st August stating that you finished work on that date and bring it to your sw office when you are making your claim on 5th August and you can hand in your P45 when you get it.
