ID/Passport checking on Belfast/Scotland ferry

So my Venezuelan girlfriend is visiting me in Ireland in a couple of weeks time. We had planned on visiting the UK too. She's just found out that the UK visa rules have changed and she now doesn't have enough time to get the UK visa approved and returned to her before travel...

My question is, is it possible for her to jump on the Belfast to Scotland ferry without being checked for ID/Passport/Visa?

Is there anyone checking documentation on either end like in an airport?...

Why on earth would she do this? Immigration laws are laws. Breaking them is never a good idea.

thanks to people abusing the common travel area and the freedom to travel freely from Ireland to UK(Northern Ireland) and onto Britain, the UK border agency does indeed check and arrest illegal immigrants making their way between Northern Ireland and Scotland.

I think there are also people who have been found in NI without a UK visa who have been deported back to their own country (not back to Ireland). Obviously travelling to Great Britain would make the chances of detection much higher.

Thanks for the replies folks. She's managed to find a company that will expedite her application in 5 days. It will cost her an extra $400 but she really doesn't want to miss the wedding we are invited to in London
