hi, I really want to the top of the cartilage of my ear pierced but I want to know about the pain, on a scale of 1-10 how painful is it? and is it more or less sore than getting the lobe part pierced?

Its more sore. You're piercing light bone compared to flab basically! But its not unbearable, its over in a second. Just make sure you know the person doing it is capable - as far as I know its easy to mess up if they arent experienced

Jortea, I've moved your thread from Beauty to Tattoos and Piercings.

If you haven't done it yet but are still thinking about it, it is sore but if you go to a decent piercer it is over is a second after it's just the hot throbbing for a while but everyone's pain threshold is different so I wouldn't rate it out of ten, if you do want both ears only get one done at a time so you can sleep comfortably on the other side until healed.

I have each ear done twice in the cartilage and also a conch punch in each each so it can't be that bad if I went back for more :) and the 4 standard ones I got done in one session. (I was in a rush)

I have always wanted my cartilage pierced as well. But I wanted 2 so I could connect them with the swivel bar. I think it is called the Industrial.
I have never gotten them though. I have heard the top of your ear is far more painful than the bottom. Thicker, and more hard to pierce through with the needle. Probably a 7 or 8 on the scale.
If you are a sucker for pain, take a ibuprofen before you get to the chair!

I just got the top of my ear pierced this week, it hurt for a little bit but no more than my other piercings. Make sure to take deep breaths while it's being done. Still a little tender when I touch it but other than that it's healing well.
