At a time when the possible closure of tracks is dominating much of the greyhound chat, it is pleasing to report that Longford Track has been bought by leading Scottish owner Howard Wallace who simply purchased the site “as a greyhound racing supporter”.

The sale of Longford Track has been a very lively topic in the past month with various names mentioned as potential new owners. However it has emerged that Wallace has agreed to purchase the track and the deal is currently being finalised.
Wallace is a leading owner and has his greyhounds in this country trained by Francie Murray. He was the main behind the mooted development of a new track outside Edinburgh.
Longford Director Jackie Devine reported yesterday that he has been in touch with Howard Wallace and reports that the new owner intends to leave the current local committee in charge. For the past fifteen years the voluntary committee has been operating at the track and they can continue now without the threat of closure hanging over them.
Longford Track is one of the traditional nursery venues and is frequented by many leading owners and trainers for trials due to its very good surface.
The Sales which are due to take place on Saturday week, August 9th, have a full catalogue of over 100 greyhounds and the catalogue will be available online on Tuesday evening next. The weigh-in will be between 8.15 and 8.45am with trials commencing at 9am and the sale will follow immediately. Any queries, call Paddy Farrington on on 087 6682690.

What a bargain. A 3 bed house would cost more.
Any idea what's gonna happen to it???
We might see bags racing happening from it yet.
