Should I burst an abscess ?

I've had an abscess for the last 4 days, I've been on antibiotics for the last 3 days but they don't seem to be helping...... Has anyone ever burst one, like stick a needle in it and squeeze the puss out ? .......I have all the equipment I need to do this ( needle/ swabs and alcohol)

My cat had one at the base of her tail, probably the result of a fight with another cat.

The abscess is long gone but the cat is now dead.

Go for it.

It's on the roof of me mouth! ..............It's really painful , it seems to be growing by the minute.
