spent a couple of days last time doing the fence with a brush and a roller for the decking, dont fancy that every 2-3 years so looking for a sprayer.

only seems to be 2 out there I can find, the ronseal or the cuprinol.

Very mixed reviews on both. Anyone comment on them or other ones?

Don't buy one! That's the best advice I can give you. Bought the Ronseal one a few years ago and used it on one fence panel. The result was either very patchy or gobs of paint rolling down the fence and I ended up having to go over the whole thing with a paint brush. I threw it in the back of the shed and that is where it has been ever since. I think they lack pressure so therefore just spit the paint out so maybe a compressor operated paint sprayer would be a better idea. I've stuck to the old fashioned pain in the ass method and try to rope in a few friends to help. The promise of a BBQ and a few beers always helps!:)

Thats exactly what all the bad reviews say. The good reviews say to water the paint first to avoid this. I wouldnt mind paying 30-40e for a sprayer to try it if that was the case but interested to see is their any alternative to the 2 products mentioned above.

Save your money, they just don't work. Tried one, as did my neighbour and it left the fence look brutal. Had to go over the whole thing with a brush to get a decent finish. It is because of the pressure. The only thing I can think of IF you have alot of fence to do is to rent a compressor and paint gun.

FWIW I bought one a few months back in Lidl/Aldi that I used to spray the deck.

It did a pretty good job too though the decking sealant I was using was quite watery anyway. I think it only cost 20 quid which is why I decided to give it a punt....

I haven't tried it on a fence or anything else vertical but it certainly made doing the decking a lot quicker!

Hi - didn't want to put up a new thread but had a similar question.

Got a large amount of fence to paint and was thinking if I go down the paint brush route i could be at it all summer.

Saw a Terratek 650W Electric Paint Sprayer Spray Gun System on-line (working out about 60 euros including delivery) and wanted to see people's thoughts or if they had any recommendations for alternatives.

    Thanks in advance!

Hire a proper sprayer for the job.

Wasn't being flippant...hire one of these http://gkhire.ie/product.php?id_product=127 or a similar type, most hire shops will have a couple of them.

Once you get the hang of using one (not difficult) you will spray an awful of fence in a day.

All those little 60 euro yokes are just rubbish.

Make sure the hire shop give you a good tutorial on it and there is always Youtube if you need to know anything.

I have sprayed rough walls, fences, and house inside and out with these. Dingers for speed.

Be careful of overspray though, have plenty of hand holdable masks at hand. The mist can travel quite a distance in a wind.

Yes. Even the slightest hint of a breeze and the stuff goes everywhere.

Seriously, this stuff is very thin and so easy to apply, it's not liquid gloss paint or anything, so just get a big-ass brush and you'll be finished in no time.

    Thanks in advance!

In the same predicament myself I have got 47 hit and miss fence panels which took 72 hours to get three coats on last time.

Luckily this time I have got access to a powerful industrial piston sprayer.

Can anyone recommend a good stain that sprays well?
