I heard of 2 Irish channels this evening when I was Googling something else:

    http://irelandwestmusictv.ie/index.php/receive-channel

    https://www.facebook.com/irishtv

Id never heard of them before and I know a few people who would want them, are there any other channels out there like that? Ireland/Irish music type ones? Surprised they can manage to stay afloat tbh...

No others no. If you want the rtes you'll need an aerial.

I assume you can actually manually tune RTE1, RTE2, TG4, and TV3 on Freesat but the stations are blocked ?

There are 4 Irish stations available on Sky in NI with a basic subscription. RTE1, RTE2, TG4, and RTE Junior.

Tara Television used to broadcast the RTE News and selected programmes from it's schedule on Sky but it closed down quite a while ago.

Pity as I would imagine it was quite popular on the mainland with ex-pats.

Showcase TV isn't quite the same.

You can manually tune them in non Freesat mode. No pictures or sound but you can access teletext.

No - the is not enough of a market beyond yahoo music. I have a vague idea that someone was playing with the idea - a sort of Tara for the 21st century
